Gregory Garland is a public servant with the Department of State Affairs, where he is engaged in work that supports diplomacy, governmental coordination, and the effective administration of state and international initiatives. Gregory is known for his professionalism and dedication to representing public interests in complex governmental environments.
Danny Glidewell is the elected Walton County Commissioner for District 2, representing communities including DeFuniak Springs, Freeport, Paxton, and surrounding areas. He is a 7th-generation resident of Walton County and holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Troy University. Glidewell began his career in law enforcement with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, serving from 1984 to 2006 in roles from Corrections Officer up through Captain and Chief of Administration. Outside of law enforcement, he has been involved in community leadership and service—teaching criminal justice at Northwest Florida State College, serving on the County Planning Commission, leading local associations like the Walton County Fair Association, and coaching youth sports. Glidewell has also served in ministry roles and remains active in community organizations.
Christopher Mitchell is the Guest Experience Coordinator at Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Florida; an 89-acre storybook resort for Wish kids battling terminal or life-threatening illnesses experiencing a magical once-in-a-lifetime, cost-free vacation when the wish is to meet Mickey Mouse or to explore the incredible theme parks central Florida has to offer. Previously, Chris was the president and program chair of the Florida Chautauqua Association (2007-2016 & 2020), an award-winning broadcast journalist for ABC affiliate WMBB-TV in Panama City, public information officer for city and county governments, and a personal aide to former President Jimmy Carter at The Carter Center in Atlanta. Chris traveled with the Carters to England and developing countries throughout Africa (Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Uganda and Tanzania) as the Carters worked on eradicating Guinea Worm disease, helping poor farmers grow their food more efficiently, and stopping civil wars. Chris is a resident of Kissimmee, Florida where he works at Give Kids The World Village and where personal lessons from the Carters about selfless giving has catapulted his career in making happy memories for Wish children with terminal or life-threatening illnesses and their families.
Dr. Sylvia Rockwell (also known as Doc Roc) is an internationally respected educator and author with more than three decades of experience teaching all grade levels—from elementary classrooms to graduate programs—and training educators around the world in behavior management, resilience, and motivation. Her academic work includes a master’s degree and Ph.D. in emotional and behavioral disorders, numerous publications, and impactful workshops that have helped shape practice in special education and diverse learning environments. Beyond her scholarly and teaching accomplishments, Sylvia is also a passionate visual artist whose whimsical, nature-inspired paintings and handcrafted pieces—showcased locally and beloved for their creativity and charm—reflect her deep connection to imagination and community. Sylvia is also an accomplished signer who has performed at previous Chautauquas.
